Fight Disease Translation

People are inclined to think that the antibiotics are one of human discoveries. They are actually natural products. Since the British biologist Alexander Fleming in 1928 discovered a substance released by the Penicillium fungus to combat microbes, people have come to understand that they can produce efficient antibiotics.

As a matter of fact, antibiotics are produced by those organism, namely germs and fungi, in the process of destroying. After Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin, Selman Waksman isolated streptomycin from the soil bacterium Streptomyces griseus. This problem is becoming a subject of discussion.

Antibiotics are very useful in medical science, because not only they kill useless microbes but also they don't destroy any human normal cells, which are greatly different from bacteria cells. These two knids of cells can be avoided to be destroyed at the same time.

Hence, antibiotics, called, "magic bullets", may be used to target some microbes. This property makes an essential difference between antibiotics and antimicrobials, the latter is toxic to many cells, both germ cells and human normal cells.
